1Public AI Disclosure
CatholicCompanionOS is developing Lux as a permission-aware artificial-intelligence operating layer across authorized CatholicCompanionOS experiences. Lux may use third-party AI models or infrastructure, including services from Google, while CatholicCompanionOS remains responsible for application identity, permissions, institutional scope, workflows, governance, and product controls.
2What Lux May Do
Depending on enabled features and permissions, Lux may retrieve authorized information, summarize content, explain features, assist navigation, draft content, analyze information, recommend next steps, or invoke approved tools and workflows. Availability and capability vary by user, role, institution, age, module, and development stage.
3AI Limitations
AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or misleading. Users should verify important information. Lux does not replace professional, legal, medical, financial, educational, canonical, sacramental, or pastoral advice and should not be treated as ecclesiastical authority.
4Permission-Aware Design
Lux is intended to operate within CatholicCompanionOS identity, organizational scope, and access controls. AI functionality does not itself authorize access to otherwise restricted information. CatholicCompanionOS may impose stricter controls on minors, students, sensitive records, institutional administration, payments, or consequential actions.
5Human Oversight and Consequential Actions
Lux should not autonomously make final consequential decisions involving sacramental eligibility, canonical status, discipline, employment, student placement, significant grading, financial transfers, safety interventions, legal determinations, or similar high-impact matters where authorized human review is appropriate or required.
6Data Use and Providers
When Lux processes user or institutional information, processing may involve CatholicCompanionOS systems and approved model/infrastructure providers. The exact provider and model may change. Data handling is subject to applicable privacy notices, institutional agreements, permissions, and provider arrangements. CatholicCompanionOS should configure production AI services to avoid using protected institutional data for unrelated model training where contractually available and appropriate.
7Citations and Grounding
Some Lux experiences may provide citations or source references. A citation does not guarantee that an AI interpretation is correct. Users should consult the underlying source and appropriate authoritative personnel for consequential matters.
8Theological and Ecclesiastical Safeguards
CatholicCompanionOS may apply theological grounding, source restrictions, content policies, and escalation mechanisms intended to reduce misleading or inappropriate religious output. These safeguards do not convert AI output into an official statement of the Catholic Church or a substitute for competent ecclesiastical authority.
9Youth and Student AI
AI capabilities for minors and students may be more restrictive than for adults. CatholicCompanionOS may limit memory, profiling, direct interaction, autonomous actions, external tools, or access to sensitive information for youth accounts. Schools and guardians may have additional controls where supported.
12Monitoring, Logging, and Safety
CatholicCompanionOS may log AI interactions, tool calls, safety events, or metadata as reasonably necessary for security, debugging, governance, abuse prevention, auditability, and service improvement, subject to applicable privacy and institutional terms. Sensitive logging should be minimized and access-restricted.
13Changes and Model Evolution
Models, prompts, orchestration, tools, safety rules, and providers may change as Lux evolves. Material changes affecting production institutional processing should be communicated as required by applicable agreements.
14No AI Certification Claim
Nothing in this disclosure claims that Lux or CatholicCompanionOS has received governmental AI approval, independent AI certification, or a guarantee of accuracy, safety, or regulatory compliance unless separately evidenced.
